Summary[]
Jamie climbs the scaffolding and paint-sprays 'Free Matthew Rose' on the bridge. Janine leaves the Vic at 3.00am drinking and admires the graffiti. Peggy shows an Estate Agent round the Vic. Kim succeeds with the modelling job at the agency. Dot is appalled at the graffiti and vows to find the culprit. Troy arranges a little love nest for himself and Irene, and they meet secretly. Frank is losing patience with Janine. Melanie tries to tell Ian she can't marry him but before she can say anything, he breaks down and tells her that Lucy may have cancer.

Troy calls an estate agent and arranges to view a flat, pretending to be a doctor so that the estate agent won't accompany him on the viewing. Terry is pleased, and tells Irene who doesn't look as happy. Troy leaves her a note to meet him and she goes expecting to be told he's moving out, when in fact he has installed tacky candles and an inflatable mattress in the flat, and he plans an afternoon of passion! Terry wanders around looking for her when his tea doesn't appear on the table at the correct time, and she appears later saying she has a bad back and had to get some treatment! After all her starvation efforts, Kim finally gets a modelling job after continually being turned down for being too fat over the last few weeks. Janine stirs up trouble for the romantic aspirations of Asif and Martin by telling Nicky that they have told her all about her putting out. Nicky dumps Asif in front of everyone and in the next five minutes Martin asks her out, while Asif asks Janine out. Nicky says yes, while Janine says no, very smugly. Jamie spray paints 'Free Matthew Rose' on the scaffolding at the Arches. Lisa and Melanie have an evening out, while Ian stays at home and ignores Melanie. Lisa tells Melanie she has to tell Ian if she's having doubts. Melanie avoids it in the morning because Ian tells her Lucy was ill during the night, and the doctor frightens Ian by saying he suggests she visit a specialist to have tests for more serious illnesses - like TB and lymphoma. Ian hysterically seizes on this and says "She's got cancer." Fred says calmly that it is only one possibility and they have to wait for the test results. Melanie realises that she can't tell Ian that she doesn't want to marry him just at this moment. When Lucy is still ill that evening, Ian decides not to wait for the specialist appointment, and takes her to casualty, telling everyone to let him through because his child has cancer. |
