As the police close in around the Square, Matthew relies on the CCTV video to clear his name.
|
Ricky is delighted to find a surprise visitor waiting in the Vic - Janine, over on holiday. For Bianca, this is the last straw. She flees the Butcher family reunion. Bianca learns that Natalie saw Dan last week and didn't warn her. Bianca makes Natalie swear to keep quiet about her past with Dan. Terry anxiously prepares for his first professional gig at the Vic. Irene ignores him, focusing instead on her new hobby - tai chi. Terry's act receives ironic cheers. His spirits are raised when, afterward, a young female agent approaches him. Pat insists that Roy must come clean with Barry about his betrayal of Barry's mother. Roy will never be free of his guilt until he does so. Roy fails to confess to Barry and returns shamefaced to Pat. In the police station, Steve tells DI Steele his version of events. He claims Matthew hero-worshipped him and killed Saskia to save him. Steve foolishly kept quiet to protect Matthew. A panicky Matthew inadvertently confirms Steve's story. He tells DI Steele that he used to be Steve's lapdog and desperate to impress his employer. Matthew can go on no longer. He pleads with DI Steele to play the CCTV tape and confirm his innocence. She plays it for Matthew. To his horror, Matthew realises that the tape has been wiped. |
