Summary[]

It is New Year's Day and the morning after Tiffany's death. Grant won't leave his room. Frank blames himself. Terry, Louise and Simon grieve. Peggy opens up the Vic as usual.

The events of last night are hitting home. Beppe places a spray of flowers on the garden railings.

In the Vic, Frank hasn't slept all night and continually blames himself, even though Peggy tries her best to put his mind at rest.

Ricky wakes up, having stayed at the squat, to the news that Tiffany has died after being run over, and that his dad was driving the car that killed her. He goes to Bianca, who's been been on her own all night. Ricky tries to console her, but can't - her anger is aimed at Frank.

Simon and Louise have a visit from Tony offering words of sympathy. Simon blames Grant and feels he took Tiffany away from her family when she was alive and is doing the same now she's gone - they can't arrange the funeral for her or see Courtney.

In the café, Lenny, Mary, Matthew and Huw raise their cups in a toast to Tiffany - 'the original party girl'.

Phil tries to talk to Grant, saying he can't stay cooped up all day nor can Courtney. Grant just can't bring himself to do anything - he's devastated. Simon takes it upon himself to go to the Vic to get Courtney. He confronts Peggy and tells her that Tiffany wouldn't want Courtney to be brought up by Grant. She tries to calm him but the only thing that stops Simon is Peggy telling him that Grant has gone to identify Tiffany's body. At the hospital Grant, having identified Tiffany, is given a small bag of her belongings. He finds her wedding ring and breaks down in tears.

Notes[]

  • Final appearance of Tiffany Mitchell. Although she appears in the chapel of rest, Tiffany was portrayed by a different but similar-looking actress as Martine McCutcheon's contract had already ran out. The camera angles gave the reinterpretation that the stand-on actress was Martine herself. Additionally, her voice can be heard on the answer phone in the Vic.
