Notes[]
- This special one-hour episode was broadcast on Good Friday at 8.30pm and was the first EastEnders episode to have a runtime over thirty-minutes.
- Last appearance of Cindy Beale until 21 June 2023. The actress was due to return later on in the year to film more court scenes but was subsequently axed before doing so and was supposedly killed off-screen in November 1998.
- Last appearance of Lucy Beale until 5 October 1998.
- Last appearance of Kathy Mitchell and Ben Mitchell until 16 September 1999. This is the first episode which Ben is credited on-screen. Also, this was the final appearance of Matthew Silver in the role - being replaced by Morgan Whittle.
- This episode features a unique scene from the show before the opening titles begin. The scene consists of Kathy in a dream state recalling her past lovers with Pat Evans demanding answers on 'who's the one' from the side, before her waking up in bed in a panic state and the opening titles beginning.
- Pete Beale and James Willmott-Brown's voices are both heard in this episode.
- The end of this episode featured an alternative version of Julia's Theme, later to be known as Kathy's Theme (part of this theme would be used again on 30 April 1998). The closing credits for this episode run longer than any other episode broadcast to this date, with the entire theme tune being played twice.
- For its 2025 upload to BBC iPlayer as "Classic EastEnders", this episode was entitled Kathy Leaves Walford.
