Kathy is hiding at home. Tiffany has asked Grant what to say to Peggy, and they haven't really agreed upon a story, so they are avoiding her. Peggy asks Grant what he has planned for Tiffany's 21st birthday and suggests that they could have the party at Kathy's so it would be a surprise. Grant tells her some story about Kathy feeling a bit ill and Phil staying at home to look after her. Grant sees Ricky in the café and Ricky asks him what to say to people asking where Phil is, as he has already had to cover for him and said he is away on business. Peggy overhears Ricky telling Pat this and she confronts Grant, who tells her that Phil refused to come home with them and has started drinking again. Grant goes to see Kathy to check up on her and to tell her that although she has given up on Phil, she can't disown him yet. He also tells her Peggy is trying to visit to hassle her about Phil, but he has tried to delay it for now. Roy and Pat discuss Barry's birthday present and Roy has decided to give him Manor Wood to run for himself. Pat agrees, although she's a little surprised. Barry is thrilled and feels that he's finally being given some responsibility. They are all at the Vic and Vanessa gives Barry a tie, which he shows off. Nigel walks past and says "nice tie". Tony goes to dig up some more gossip about the council and happens to hear the Fowlers talking about Arthur being stopped from his incinerator protest by the council. As it's George's proxy company who were the main beneficiaries of the project, he wants to find out if Dixon was involved too. He goes to see Pauline to ask her about it and tries to make it casual. He explains that he wants to write some community articles and that it's important that the council work for the residents - not for their own ends. Pauline tells him that Cranwell developments got the incinerator approved in exchange for paying for a new sports centre and it was Councillor Dixon who was the major organiser of the scheme. |
