Summary[]
Ricky rescues Phil from the fire at the portacabin. Sam and Bianca are both concerned for Ricky and he and Phil are taken to hospital. Frank is suspected but nowhere to be seen.
Pat discovers the fire and calls the fire brigade. Bianca also notices the fire and alerts Carol and Robbie. Pat rushes over to the Vic in search of David and informs everyone of the fire. Assuming that Frank is inside the port-a-cabin, Ricky rushes over and runs inside while the residents of the square watch on in horror. Cindy is anxious when someone suggests that David could be inside. The ambulance and the fire brigade arrive just as Ricky rescues an unconscious Phil. Kathy loses her temper when Ian attempts to a reassure her that Phil will be okay, she berates him for his false concern, acknowledging that he never liked Phil. She then turns her attention to Peggy, who is hassling the emergency services. But after shouting at them, Kathy feels a twinge. Bianca comforts Ricky in the back of the ambulance, while Sam watches on. Pat tells Ricky that Frank has gone and that she has a letter for him. When the paramedics confirm with Pat that they are taking him to hospital, Ricky coldly tells them that she isn't his mum. Robbie speculates that the fire brigade have found Frank's body in the ashes while the bystanders disperse and go to the Vic. Tiffany also passes on the rumours that there are more bodies in the debris while Tony speculates about the circumstances of the fire. Feeling sorry for himself about his exchange with Kathy, Ian calls the hospital for information and then airs his concern about Cindy's reaction to the fire. At the hospital, the Mitchell's mount a bedside vigil and he begins to stir. While Sam questions a nurse on the whereabouts of Ricky. Sam finds him as he is having his burnt hand bandaged and confesses that she realises how much he loves Bianca, she also admits that she didn't want him but she didn't want anyone else to have him either. Peggy and Kathy go in search of coffee and Kathy becomes irritated again with Peggy's shouting, then feels another twinge. While they enjoy their coffee's, the twinges increase and Peggy goes in search of a doctor. Having been discharged from the hospital, Ricky arrives at Pat's house and reads his letter from Frank. Pat explains why he has left again. David arrives and assumes that Frank is responsible for the fire. Pat then puts Ricky up for the night. After being thrown out of a club, Tony goes home where he is greeted by an angry Ted. He explains that he is fed up with Tony going out clubbing overnight and sleeping all day, he demands that he get a job and pull his weight around the house. Tony tells him that he has got a job as a barman in a nightclub. Kathy is examined and sent home just as the police arrive. Aware of Grant's cagey behaviour, she holds back and informs him that if she finds out that he had anything to do with the fire, she will not hold back from telling the police. |
