Summary[]
The Jackson family celebrate Alan's birthday as Michelle refuses to listen to orders from Grant whilst working at the Vic. Gita is subject to racist phone calls. She does not tell anyone about them.

Sonia plans to make Alan a birthday cake. Alan wants Bianca over to join in with the celebrations but Carol is not keen. Arthur tries to put Nellie off going to her ex-husband's funeral, not wanting to go over to Eastbourne himself. Pauline gets Arthur to take a day off of work to drive them and Nellie to Eastbourne for the funeral. Bianca gives Alan a shirt for his birthday. Carol is filled with jealousy, as Bianca's present was more expensive than hers. She creates an uncomfortable atmosphere confronting Bianca, so Bianca leaves. Alan is unimpressed. Michelle thinks Sharon should move in with her but Sharon refuses to let go of the one thing she has left - the Vic. Michelle gets her some keys cut so she can visit whenever she wants. Cindy and Gita go swimming, leaving Sanjay to look after Sharmilla. Natalie tells Bianca she has a date, but cannot tell anyone about it as he has a wife. Matt wants to talk to Cindy at the swimming pool but Cindy is not interested. David has a drink with Nellie. Michelle lets Arthur use her car to drive him, Nellie and Pauline to Eastbourne. Sanjay answers Gita's phone whilst looking after Sharmilla and is shocked by the racist remarks he hears. When Gita returns from swimming, he insists that she stays in Tricky Dicky's flat whilst he stays in hers to keep her and Sharmilla out of harm's way. Arthur hears a song whilst at home which reminds him of a memory of him and Pauline share in Eastbourne. It excites him to go back to Eastbourne with her and changes his mood towards taking Nellie to the funeral. Grant fires Michelle at the end of her shift. Sharon stands by Grant, knowing Michelle will make things worse if she does not do as he says. |
