Eleanor 'Ellie' Viola Nixon (previously Dawkins) is the mother of Jonah Dawkins and adoptive-grandmother of Raymond Dawkins. She made her first appearance on 25 September 2020 and her last appearance on 26 October 2020. She is portrayed by Mica Paris.
Storylines[]
Ellie is first seen at Walford General Hospital and is revealed to be the adoptive grandmother of Raymond Dawkins, the biological son of Denise Fox and Phil Mitchell. Raymond's family, including Ellie's son, are killed in a car accident; Denise and Ellie meet at the hospital where Raymond is being treated, but Denise does not reveal her identity. Ellie is so overwhelmed in the aftermath of the accident, but realises that something is not quite right with Denise. Despite this, she is thankful for Denise's presence as she is Ellie's main support. Ellie does not want there to be anything bad with Denise. Ellie did not have a close relationship with her family, but suddenly has to "step up" as Raymond's next of kin. Denise and Ellie united in joy as they hear that Raymond is expected to recover from his injuries. Denise comes to the heartbreaking conclusion that she can't let Phil be in Raymond's life and so decides to leave him with Ellie.
Phil finds out about Raymond and begins to spend time at the hospital with Ellie. Phil grows suspicious of Ellie’s true motives when he is unable to get hold of her and this leads his son Ben to wonder if Ellie truly is who she says she is. Callum tries to get to the bottom of what’s going on. He asks DI Thompson for some information on Ellie, hoping it will lead him closer to Phil. It is revealed that Ellie has a criminal past and that Raymond's parents were killed by her enemies.
Phil invites Ellie to the Arches and thinks he can convince her into handing the youngster over to him to keep him safe. But Ellie sees through his words - and proves she was just as deadly as he is by telling him that she knew all about his family. She mentions Ben being shot, Louise fleeing the country and even Dennis' death. She tells him that he can keep Raymond in exchange for £150k. Phil agrees but could only get his hands on £80,000.
When he turned up to do the handover Ellie fronts him out and demands the full payment. Phil tries to negotiate, but Ben turns up and convinces him that the only way he would get Raymond back is through the courts. Ellie warns him not to cross her before giving Phil more time to come up with the cash. Phil warns Ellie that she now has a "war" on her hands.
Things hit a stumbling block when he gets his lawyer Ritchie involved, who said he would never be able to win a court due to his criminal record. Denise Fox, however, does not have a criminal past and is the biological mother of Raymond. Phil approaches Denise and offers to be a silent partner throughout the court case, agreeing to pay all the legal fees if she agreed to take on Ellie. Should they win, Phil offers to let Denise handle Raymond's upbringing, as long as he can play a role in his life.
Phil plants a substantial amount of drugs at one of Ellie's properties and sent the police after her. Phil says he will have the drugs removed if Ellie agrees to sign over custody to Denise. Raymond is then returned to Denise by Ellie and Ellie leaves Walford.
