During the 2020 transmission break due to CoViD restrictions on production, the BBC aired 9 Iconic Episodes and uploaded them to the BBC iPlayer. Over the following five years, several episodes were moved and several added before the series became Classic EastEnders in February 2025.

Summer 2020 broadcasts[]

On Tuesdays at 7:30pm from 23 June 2020 to 18 August 2020, BBC One broadcast the most iconic episodes of EastEnders to date.[1]

  3. Amira & Syed's Wedding (part 2): 1 January 2010 - Part 2 - aired 7 July 2020
  4. Walford Pride: 5 July 2019 - aired 14 July 2020
  5. Pat & Peggy: 27 October 1998 - aired 21 July 2020
  6. Who Killed Lucy Beale? 30th Anniversary: 19 February 2015 - aired 28 July 2020
  7. Max & Stacey: 25 December 2007 - Part 2 - aired 4 August 2020
  8. Shirley Confesses: 26 December 2014 - aired 11 August 2020
  9. Pat & Frank's Affair: 2 November 2000 - aired 18 August 2020

Later broadcasts[]

24 January 1989 (Colin and Guido Kiss) was aired on BBC Four on 23 August 2021 and, on 12 December 2022, 31 January 2008 was aired on BBC Four; each was added to iPlayer episodes in the Iconic Episodes series.

By January 2025, most of the episodes had been re-listed by year of broadcast and two Christmas episodes had been uploaded without being re-aired: 25 December 1987 and 25 December 1990. In February 2025, the six remaining non-Christmas episodes became part of the Classic EastEnders listing; and the two Christmas episodes of EastEnders: Christmas 1986 - 2007.
