David Peckham was Julie and Nigel Bates's pet chicken. He made his first appearance on 18 August 2025 and last on 21 August 2025.
Storylines[]
When Julie Bates returns from Scotland with the rest of her things, she introduces the chickens, David Peckham, Sporty and Posh to Phil and Nigel. They currently reside in a makeshift enclosure in Phil's courtyard, titled 'Peckingham Palace'. They begin to cause quite a stir, with half the Square complaining on the Walford WhatsApp group. Phil later yells at David to shut up as he has been making noises since 4am. David later goes missing after Nigel forgets to lock up the chicken coop. The chicken is later found walking into Yolande Trueman's hen party, which is found hilarious by the women bar Nicola Mitchell, who demands Julie to clean up.
In September 2025, David, alongside Sporty and Posh, were killed by a fox after Nigel forgot to lock their enclosure. Julie was distraught after their deaths, calling them a "symbol of their marriage".
