Danniella Westbrook (previously Morgan; born 5th November 1973 in Walthamstow, London) is an English actress and television personality who portrayed Sam Mitchell in EastEnders periodically between July 1990 and July 2016.
Away from Albert Square she has presented various shows, and was also a contestant on ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2003. She competed in the 2010 series of Dancing on Ice with US Pairs Skater Matthew Gonzalez and finished fourth in the competition.
Westbrook struggled with a much-publicised cocaine addiction throughout the 1990s and 2000s, which caused the complete erosion of her nasal septum/Colonna. She sought treatment and no longer uses drugs. She was married and has two children, and released her autobiography, The Other Side of Nowhere, in 2006.
In 2013, she appeared in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.
In 2019, after the actress had claimed to be cocaine-free for fourteen years, it was revealed that she was back taking cocaine. She then appeared on the Jeremy Kyle Show in which she was then sent to rehab.
From June to July 2016, Daniella returned for a set of episodes for Peggy Mitchell's funeral before departing again. In January 2022, Daniella was rumored to be returning as Sam but the role was given to Kim Medcalf, who took over from Daniella in 2002. Upon hearing that Kim was taking over the role again, Daniella took to Twitter saying she wished "that bird Kym" the best of luck in portraying a Sam Mitchell as close to her previous portrayal, and saying that her legal team will be in touch with EastEnders. In November 2022, she would tweet "there's an unnamed soap on at my friends house. It's so bad it's like watching paint dry." Implying she did not get anywhere with a legal case and now holds a grudge against EastEnders.
