Detective Sergeant Roy Quick made his first appearance 20 August 1985. He is portrayed by Douglas Fielding.
Backstory[]
Roy romanced and had an interest in Debbie Wilkins. He was not a scrupulous copper and often turned a blind eye especially when Pete Beale gave local villain Nick Cotton a good beating. Quick doing his job often disrupted everyday life and irritated several residents of the Square. Roy was played by Douglas Fielding.
Storylines[]
1985-1986[]
In 1985 and 1986 he often patrolled the Square, trying to out catch wrong-doers. He helped in many crises in the square (Although upsetting some of the residents at the same time) such as the mugging of Debbie and the theft of her purse, the theft of Ethel's purse and the break in at Doctor Legg's surgery / break in at Lofty's and Ethel's flats. Quick knew Nick Cotton was a wrong-un so began stalking him, trying to find a way to fit him up for a crime. In the end, Nick left the area.
Quick became involved romantically with Albert Square resident Debbie Wilkins, during a rough time in her and Andy's relationship, and eventually proposed to her in 1986 - Although she said no after a long period of thinking. This denial shattered his courage and led to him leaving the Police Force soon afterwards.
