Storylines[]
D.I Trent was from Walford Police Station and was from the CID Department. He quizzed Frank Butcher over the car lot fire one the night it happened. The following day, he said that the homeless vagrant who was asleep in one of the cars when the fire happened, had died in hospital. Trent suspected that Frank had fired the car lot. Frank claimed his business accounts had gone up in the flames to fob the police off. Trent and his sidekick D.C. Cornwall quizzed local residents including Phil Mitchell, who had bought a flat off Frank recently and due to his job, had access to flammable liquids. They then quizzed other residents including Sanjay Kapoor and Richard Cole. Tricky Dicky as Cole was known, said that Frank could not afford women and had been almost bankrupt recently. Trent and Cornwell arrested Frank and he was released on bail. Trent and Cornwell could not prove for sure it was arson and the case was later dropped but after Frank absconded, his wife Pat Butcher was told by them that they thought he fired the car lot but could not prove it.
