Charli Branning Slater is the daughter of Lily Slater and Ricky Branning. She made her first appearance on 5 September 2023.
Backstory[]
In December 2022, Ricky felt forgotten about due to his sister, Amy, taking up their dad and step-mothers time due to her self harm. This led to him developing a friendship with Lily, and he would often leave to go hang out with her. This led to the two having sex and Lily falling pregnant, however Lily would not discover this until New Year's Day 2023 when she is at the hospital after passing out due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Lily is horrified and refuses to tell Stacey who the father is, but when Stacey sees Lily waving to Ricky from a window, she quickly figures it out. Lily decides to keep the baby, much to Jack Branning and Martin Fowler's horror, but Stacey tells Lily it should be nobody's choice but her own. On 11 April 2023 it was revealed that Ricky and Lily's baby was a girl during a gender reveal party. Lily starts receiving private tuition from Theo Hawthorne for free as she is falling behind in school after being signed off, but this is secretly a plan by Theo to get closer to Stacey, who he has been stalking after subscribing to her on Secret Cam.
Storylines[]
2023-: Birth and Stacey and Jack's affair[]
Lily goes into labour on 5 September 2023 whilst at home with Stacey and Theo. Stacey however, learns that Theo has been stalking and harassing her for months, resulting in Theo trapping her in the kitchen as Lily prepares to deliver the baby. Jean, Martin and Eve soon arrive home however, and kick Theo out of the house. Lily gives birth in the living room with Stacey and Jean around her. Lily and the baby are taken to the hospital and joined by Ricky and their families, where they reveal the baby's name to be Charli. Stacey and Kat Slater are touched as they believe it to be inspired by Kat's late dad, and Stacey's uncle, Charlie Slater, but Ricky reveals she's actually named after the famous singer, Charli XCX.
When Charli's grandmother Sam Mitchell returns Sam meets Charli. On 4 December 2023 Stacey takes Charli to Jack Branning, Charli's grandfather. This leads to Stacey and Jack becoming closer and later on 14 December 2023 they sleep together after Jack has an argument with Denise Fox.
Stacey's best friend Eve Unwin goes missing after Nish Panesar finds out she had an affair with his wife Suki Panesar everyone thinks she's dead and when Jack tells Stacey she has died. Nish and Ravi Gulati go to prison for the 'murder' of Eve. Later on, when Jack finds out Eve is alive he needs to tell the police station to let Nish and Ravi free. Suki tells Jack that if he tells the officers at the police station that Eve is alive, she will tell Lily and Ricky about him and Stacey sleeping together.
On 8 January 2024 Lily returns to school and worries about leaving Charli for long periods of time. Nish later breaks in to Stacey house and accuses her of trying to attack him on Christmas day, Stacey insists it was Keanu but Nish tells her that he remembers that Keanu wasn't there. Nish then corners Stacey and she grabs a knife to defend herself, Jack then enters the house and orders Nish to leave, Stacey and Jack then share a kiss but both pull away away a guilty Jack leaves. When Denise continues to be distant with Jack, Jack and Stacey sleep together after a court hearing where Lily and Ricky are given full parental custody of Charli. When Jack returns home Denise believes that Jack has been investigating Keanu's death, Denise takes Jack's phone and almost discovers flirty texts between Stacey and Jack. A couple of days later, when Stacey and Jack are having an affair, Stacey sneaks Jack out of the Slater House and returns home to Denise, Amy, Ricky and Raymond.
When Denise is sectioned after a mental health decile, Stacey calls the affair off however her and Jack fight there feeling for each other. When Denise is released from hospital, both sides of Charli's family come together for a barbecue. Amy, Ricky and Lily take Charli out for a walk. Once they return, Stacey tells Jack she wishes she could be selfish and continue their affair but he needs to be there for Denise. They kiss goodbye but Martin Fowler (Charli's grandad) catches them and, with the help of Chelsea Fox (Denise's daughter) announce the affair to the whole family including Lily and Ricky. Lily is fuming at Stacey and moves into Martins with Charli but eventually moved back in with Stacey after she let her get her ear pierced.
