Not to be confused with Arthur Fowler the 1985 character.

Arthur Brian Fowler is the son of Kush Kazemi and Stacey Slater and adoptive son of Martin Fowler. He is also the half-brother of Bex, Lily, Zaair and Hope. He made his first appearance on 24 December 2015. He was portrayed by Hunter Bell from 2016 to 2022 and then Rocco Brenner from 2022.

Backstory

Arthur Brian Fowler, born on the 24th December 2015, is the son of Stacey Fowler and Kush Kazemi conceived after a one-night stand a month before Stacey slept with Martin. However this was unknown to Martin and when the baby was born he and Stacey went to register him and named him after their fathers Arthur Fowler and Brian Slater, giving Arthur his name Arthur Brian Fowler. When the truth came out that Kush was the father, Martin decided he still wanted to be there for Arthur and raise him, therefore Arthur’s surname was not changed from Fowler. Stacey and Martin went on to get married with Martin’s daughter Bex and Stacey’s daughter Lily as bridesmaids. Stacey and Martin then went on to have a baby girl who they named Hope. Arthur continued to call Martin and Kush “dad” however Kush sadly died in 2021, making Martin the only father Arthur now knows.

Stacey discovers she is pregnant with Arthur after watching her daughter Lily perform in the community centre. She visits the doctors to check she is pregnant, explaining that she is on the pill. The doctor explains that the lithium she takes for her bipolar stops the pill from working, so nothing was stopping her from getting pregnant. She also tells her that there is a risk to the baby if Stacey continues to take her medication, so Stacey stops. Stacey tells Martin Fowler, who she is dating that she is pregnant. He initially suggests she get an abortion as he doesn't want any more kids, especially so early into their relationship. Stacey argues with Martin and explains that she'll bring the baby up with or without him, and he decides to support her.

It was believed his father was Martin until Stacey was told during one of her scans that she was four weeks more pregnant than she thought she was, meaning that she was already pregnant by the time she was dating Martin. When she found out that Martin wasn't the father of her baby and Kush was she told Shabnam Masood, but not that Kush was the father, as Shabnam was dating him. Shabnam confides in Kush before their wedding that Martin isn't the father to Stacey's baby, this leads Kush to realise that he must be the father to Stacey's baby. On his wedding day, Kush confronts Stacey demanding to know who the father is; she denies it's him, making up that it was someone else - even going so far as to say that she met the father in Stratford and that he had "2 arms and 2 legs, 1 of those things that you call a head." Kush sees through her lies and begs to know the truth. Stacey doesn't answer him, confirming that he is the father to her baby. She tells a shocked Kush that it's just DNA and doesn't mean anything and that Martin is going to be her son's father. Kush demands to know why he wasn't told and Stacey answers by telling him that he had made his choice when he had chosen Shabnam over her, and she didn't want this to change his mind and force him to be with her.

Furthermore, she didn't want to upset Shabnam because she had lost Zahir (Kush and Shabnam's stillborn son). Stacey explains that she had to move on, admitting at first her relationship with Martin was a rebound to distract her from the fact she couldn't have Kush, but it developed into a real relationship. Kush questions that Stacey would be lying to both Martin and the baby for the rest of their lives, but she argues that as soon as Martin holds the baby, he'll love him and raise him as his own. Kush and Stacey agree that they'll keep it a secret to protect Shabnam and Martin.

Arthur's Birth

Stacey's waters break whilst she is cooking dinner for the family. She is taken to hospital but is told that she got there too early and is taken back home. Whilst in labour and being told not to go back to the hospital, Stacey, Martin, Kush and Shabnam attend Lily's nativity play where Shabnam and Martin reassure Stacey. Shabnam tells Stacey that she can hold her hand for comfort. During the play, Stacey tells Martin that she needs to push and he questions how far apart her contractions are. Shabnam tells him that the baby is coming now and Martin shouts to the audience behind him to phone an ambulance. Billy Mitchell tells Martin to quiet down as he's trying to watch the play, Mick Carter tells him to pipe down. Babe Smith tells people to fetch hot water and towels; Tina Carter is told by Mick to get them. Mick tells Tamwar Masood and Masood Ahmed to clear the audience and the kids out of the community centre, which they do. Whilst Babe attends to Stacey, Carmel Kazemi makes her way over to Kush, telling him that she isn't leaving as she doesn't want to miss the birth of her first grandchild. He tells her that it's nothing to do with them, sticking to the agreement he made with Stacey to stop Martin and Shabnam from finding out that he is the baby's father. Shabnam watches them leave. Stacey is taken up onto the stage where the children were performing by Shabnam, Martin and Babe complaining she can't do it. Shabnam and Martin reassure her that she can, telling her to squeeze their hands when she has to. After a while, Babe tells Stacey she needs her to push for a final time, Martin checks if Stacey is ready to which she says she is. Martin says that they'll do it all together, and when Stacey strains to give birth, Martin, Shabnam and Babe all grit their teeth and mimic the sounds Stacey is making to encourage her. Arthur is born. Back in the pub, Carmel questions Kush about how he can stand there knowing his son is about to be delivered across the road. He doesn't answer. Carmel puts her scarf on and tells him she's going over there, but Kush grabs her and stops her. Mick asks if everything is alright to which he explains that Carmel is getting ahead of herself. Tina Carter comes into the Vic and announces that Stacey has given birth to a boy and everyone cheers, Mick giving a free round to everyone to celebrate. Upon hearing this news, Kush runs out of the pub followed by Carmel. Back in the community centre, Shabnam congratulates Stacey telling her that "he's beautiful". At this point Kush and Carmel run in, Kush asks if everyone's ok.

Martin invites Kush to come and see the baby. Babe tells Stacey that she'll clean the baby up for her and takes him, she asks Kush to pass a towel. Shabnam watches Kush and Carmel. Babe hands the baby to Kush, calling the baby a "bonnie little thing." Kush begins to cry at seeing his son. Shabnam also cries as she realises that Kush is the baby's father. Stacey asks for the baby back, which Kush ignores. Shabnam tells him to give the baby back, he apologises and hands him back to Stacey. Mick arrives and asks if it is safe to come in. A crowd of people come in to see the baby, Martin spots Bex and tells her to go and see her baby brother. Everyone crowds around Stacey and Martin whilst Shabnam moves to the front of the hall so no one can see her. She bursts into tears.

Storylines

Stacey and Martin bring Arthur home from the hospital and are greeted by an excited Sonia and Bex. They ask Stacey how she is, but she ignores them and takes Arthur off of Martin and into the house. He explains to them that she is tired. After noticing how Kush was with Arthur, Shabnam confronts Stacey and demands to know whether Kush is Arthur's father. Stacey, who has started to suffer from postpartum psychosis, denies it to Shabnam. Stacey believes Arthur was the son of God.

Kat visits Stacey for Christmas and discovers that Martin isn't Arthur's father, she urges Stacey to tell him the truth. As Stacey is about to do so, Kyle approaches her and formally introduces himself to her as her half-brother. She goes back to her flat and is told by Kat that when she had her daughter Zoe, she had another baby - a boy named Luke. She continues to say to her that Mo Harris stole him and sent him away, telling her to keep Arthur safe as she'll take him too. This frightens Stacey, and she refuses to let Mo around Arthur. Because of all the panic going on, Charlie Slater has a cardiac arrest and dies on the sofa in front of Kat and Mo. Stacey goes to a church and finds Dot Branning who tells her about Christianity. She goes into detail about telling her of the 'Massacre of the Innocents' which scares Stacey into believing that Arthur is in danger. She begs the vicar to baptise Arthur to protect him, but he says that it can't be done that quickly and if she wants a baptism she can book one, and they can have a ceremony.

Dot takes Stacey and Arthur back to her home, where Stacey baptises Arthur in the sink to protect him. When Stacey returns home, she finds that in her absence, Charlie has died. She runs away and finds Kyle, she asks him to protect her, and he takes her to a cafe. Before Charlie died, he told Martin that Brian and his other wife didn't have a son - they had three girls. Martin calls Stacey and explains that Kyle isn't who he says he is. Upon hearing this, Stacey panics and accuses Kyle of being the devil. She runs away from him and stops a cab. She gets in and hallucinates that the driver is her uncle Charlie, who convinces her to return home to Walford. She returns to the square and goes into the Vic. She goes up to the roof and tells Arthur that "he's coming", thinking that God is coming to save them when it's a storm. Martin sees Stacey on the roof and runs up to stop her doing anything stupid. She tells him that Arthur was sent from God, and now God is coming to rescue them. Martin goes along with this and saves Stacey when she starts to fall forward off the roof. They go home.

By the time of Charlie's funeral, Stacey is convinced that Martin is a demon, sent to take Arthur away from her. She goes over to Kat and tells her that she wants Arthur to be safe, warm and happy. Kat tells her she is a good mum and that these are all things mums want for their kids. Stacey hallucinates Kyle, believing him to be the devil, and she gets upset. She tries to go back into the house but is stopped by Martin and Lily, who both question if she is ok. Stacey leaves, she walks past Patrick Trueman, Jane Beale and Denise Fox. Denise asks how Arthur is doing, which Stacey jumps at and questions. Martin walks up behind Stacey, with Lily, and tells Denise that Arthur is fine. She smashes the glass and puts it all around the door to her room to stop anyone from taking Arthur away. Stacey turns round and is petrified of Martin. Martin tells her that she is behaving ridiculously and that they should go back to the flat. Stacey tells him that she can't have Arthur and walks away. She begins to hallucinate again and is frightened when she sees a dog. Mo comes up behind her and tells her that they are all heading off to Charlie's funeral, however, Stacey yells at Mo to stay away from her and Arthur and runs off inside the Vic. Kat sees this and overhears Martin telling Mo that she isn't well at the moment; Mo complains that Stacey stared at her "like she was the devil." Kat tells Mo to go with Belinda Peacock to Charlie's funeral, and she follows Stacey into the Vic. Stacey stares at a picture of Charlie. Kat comes up behind her and tells her that everyone is heading off. Stacey tells her that she can't go because it isn't safe. Kat questions what Stacey is scared of, asking if she should get Martin. Stacey tells her that he is "one of them", so is Mo and "that they are everywhere" and that they want to take her baby, she believes she isn't strong enough to stop them from doing so. Kat asks why they would like to take Arthur, and Stacey tells her that they want to take Arthur to the devil and that he is outside and waiting. She continues to tell her that she needs to be a good mum and that they are safe in the church as God will protect them and will tell her what to do. Kat tells her that she's safe in the Vic.

Everyone returns from the funeral, Martin comes into the pub to see Jean Walters holding Arthur, who tells him that Arthur is gorgeous. Jean hands Arthur to Martin, explaining that she wants to take a picture of him. Kyle Slater walks into the pub; Martin yells at him telling him to clear off. On the other side of the pub, Stacey watches a candle and sees it blow out. She looks over to see Kyle and Martin arguing. She yells "no" and runs over believing that Martin is giving Arthur to Kyle. Everyone turns round to see what is happening. Stacey takes Arthur off of Martin and yells that Arthur is hers and neither Kyle nor Martin can have him. She begins to ramble that she is a good mum. She walks away from them, and Kyle tries to explain himself, she yells at him to stay away. Jean asks Stacey what Kyle has done to her; he answers and says he hasn't done anything. Stacey calls him a liar and questions if Jean or anyone else can see what he is. Dot asks Stacey what she can see, and she answers that she can see the devil.

Stacey goes to Shabnam and Kush's for safety and begins to break down; she begs them for help and to go and to call a cab to take her to the church because God will have a message for her and she'll know how to keep Arthur safe. Kush suggests calling Martin to get him to pick her up, which she declines because she believes that he'll take her baby.

Jean and Martin go back to the flat to look for Stacey. Jean yells at Martin because he hasn't looked after Stacey properly, she gets her phone out and begins to call doctors to section Stacey. Martin convinces her that he can get Stacey to go to the doctors, but Jean has to give him a chance. She agrees.

Back at Shabnam and Kush's, Shabnam asks Stacey why she is writing everything down. She explains that it's going to be the next Bible and that no one will know what has happened now if she doesn't write it. Shabnam asks if Arthur talks to her, and Stacey replies that he does all the time in her head. Shabnam asks if Arthur told her that he was God's son, which Stacey says that she has already told her. When she was electrocuted and saw the bright light and saw her dad, it was an angel. She explains that she didn't understand it then, but her father is an angel, and he told her about Arthur being God's son. Martin goes round to Shabnam and Kush's to help Stacey. He tells her to look at him and explains that there aren't any angels or demons - it's just him. He asks if he can see her, she nods. He says that he can see her and his son and tells her that he loves them both. He steps over the broken glass that she has laid down and explained that if he wanted to hurt Arthur, he wouldn't be able to step across the line she has laid down. She agrees that he isn't the devil. He convinces her to come to the hospital with him because it will be safe, and she agrees.

She sees a doctor who checks to see if Stacey is still on Lithium, which Stacey answers that she isn't. Martin explains that she came off them in August so they wouldn't hurt the baby. The doctor asks Stacey to explain how she is feeling, and she explains that she's terrified and that it's a lot to deal with. The doctor agrees that newborns are hard work. Stacey asks her to take her glasses off as she can't see her eyes correctly. She does and asks what is scaring Stacey. She explains that Arthur is the son of God and that the Devil is trying to take him away from her.

When they are left alone, Stacey asks Martin about Lily; he explains that she is fine and at home. Stacey says that she knows Martin will keep her safe because God sent him to look after them all. Martin tries to hold back tears and Stacey questions if there is something outside, he says "no". She begins to panic and gives Arthur to Martin so she can check if there is anything outdoors. Martin tells Stacey that the hospital won't let Arthur stay with her; she challenges him and tells him that it isn't safe out there for Arthur. She questions if Martin made the doctors understand, explaining that she'll do it herself because they need to know the danger they are facing. Martin then explains that the hospital won't let her go home and promises that he'll bring Arthur and Lily to see her every day. Stacey gets upset because Martin promised her the doctors wouldn't take Arthur away from her. Martin apologises. Two doctors section Stacey; they explain that they need to focus on getting her better. Stacey argues that she isn't ill and needs to keep Arthur safe from what is outside; she yells at Martin, accusing him of tricking her so he could take Arthur away. She tries to attack Martin, he leaves. He cries outside the hospital room listening to Stacey's threats as the doctors restrain her. Stacey begins to cry and yells for Arthur, begging him for forgiveness. Martin walks through the hospital with Arthur to meet the doctors who are going to section her involuntarily.

Martin talks to the doctor in charge of Stacey. She explains that Stacey is suffering from Postpartum Psychosis and isn't having a bipolar manic episode as everyone thought. She explains that even though they are two separate things, they are linked as women with bipolar disorder have a 1 in 4 chance of developing the condition. Martin asks if they can make Stacey better and the doctor says they can.

At the hospital, Stacey is drugged. She is interviewed by the doctor and is told to relax and sleep. Stacey explains that she can't sleep because God won't let her; she has to stay awake to see her baby. The doctor asks Stacey when God began speaking to her; she explains she heard his voice after Arthur was born. The doctor asks when Arthur was born, and Stacey says that her baby came at Christmas. She says that the air was full of angels, and God's voice was beautiful. The doctor questions whether this was at the hospital. Stacey says that it was in the stable with the wise men and shepherds. She asks if she can see Arthur so she can get him ready for bed and keep him safe, she asks and begs to be given her baby back.

The doctor explains that Stacey needs help. Martin walks back towards the room with Stacey in it. She is dragged out of the room by four doctors; she continues to yell for Arthur, begging Martin not to take her away from Arthur. Martin apologises and breaks down crying. Kush comes in and finds Martin crying on the floor.

Martin visits Stacey in hospital; she has been drugged and restrained to stop her from hurting herself or anyone else. He tells her that her mum has gone back to Brighton and she hates Martin for not looking after Stacey properly. She asks about Arthur and Lily, and Martin tells her that they are fine.

Shabnam visits Stacey and is angry with her because Stacey's baby is alive and Shabnam's isn't. She says that it must be vengeance that Stacey got ill because she had a baby with Kush. Shabnam then apologises and says that Stacey must miss Arthur. Stacey squeezes her hand; she does it again when Shabnam asks if Stacey wants to see Arthur.

During an interview with a doctor and with Shabnam present, Stacey admits that Martin isn't Arthur's father. The doctor misunderstands and asks if Stacey believes God is Arthur's father, Stacey shakes it off and explains to both the doctor and Shabnam that Kush is Arthur's father. She then apologises to Shabnam.

Stacey gets upset with Martin after he brings Lily and Arthur to see her in the hospital because of how upset Lily got. After Martin leaves, she writes a letter to him explaining that Arthur isn't his son, he's Kush's.

Martin visits Stacey and is told by her that Arthur, Lily and he are better off without her. She plans to kill herself to free them all of her. Martin argues with her and decides to break Stacey out of the hospital as he thinks it's making her ill. She says she can't leave, but he drags her outside. They are followed by doctors who chase them out of a fire escape. Martin jumps down a ladder and begins to have a panic attack when Stacey refuses to come with him. Stacey calms him down and agrees that she won't hurt herself because she needs to live for her family. She goes back inside with the doctors, and Martin apologises to Stacey's primary doctor, explaining he just wanted to keep her safe. The doctor says that this is the best place for her, which Martin rebuffs, causing the doctor to get upset that there aren't enough facilities for women like Stacey due to lack of funding.

Martin finds a mother-and-baby unit for Stacey and Arthur to go to. Stacey decides to throw away the letter she wrote to Martin explaining that he isn't Arthur's dad, but a nurse finds it and gives it to Martin anyway. Martin reads the letter and discovers the truth about Arthur's paternity. He confronts Stacey after she moves into the mother-and-baby unit with Arthur and breaks up with her. He then goes to America to live with his sister Michelle Fowler. When he returns, he is greeted by anger from Sonia, Bex and Ian who all can't understand why he would leave Stacey and Arthur. He then stands up in the middle of the pub and announces that Kush is the father to Arthur and punches him in the face. He reunites with Stacey.

Stacey is allowed a home visit. When she goes home, she is confronted by Bex Fowler, who tells her how much she hurt Martin. Stacey runs away with Arthur and meets Kyle Slater, she argues with him about who he says he is because her dad's other wife only had three girls, no boys. Kyle explains that he is transgender and used to be her sister, Sarah. Stacey accepts him and tells Martin that Kyle is moving in. Martin questions Stacey's judgement, but Stacey explains that Kyle complicates it by being her brother. When she gets back to the mother-and-baby unit, she explains to the nurse that she had a wobble but is fine now. She then proposes to Martin, which he accepts.

Kush visits Stacey in hospital. She says that he can be apart of Arthur's life if he wants, but he turns her down and explains that he doesn't want to be a role-model Arthur looks up to.

Stacey is considered to be allowed to go home. She fights for her case, saying that her family need her. It is decided she can go home, but gets worried after a friend - Rachel - was allowed to go home but was brought back in a state after a couple of hours.

After being released, Stacey goes for a walk and is greeted by Jack Branning, who compliments how beautiful Arthur is. Stacey then goes and gets nappies and wipes for Arthur before going into the cafe and being confronted by Masood. He blames her for Shabnam leaving, but Carmel Kazemi tells him off after she eavesdrops the conversation. Stacey invites Carmel back to the flat and shows her all she has achieved in the day. Carmel congratulates her. Stacey then allows Carmel to see Arthur, Carmel tells her to focus on herself and her family.

Stacey and Martin decide to stay away from the Kazemi's after a fallout between Bex and Shaki - a naked picture of Shaki has been sent out from Bex's phone resulting in Bex being bullied. Carmel and Kush come round to confront them over the situation as they don't see why they are being punished for something that Shaki and Bex did. It is then revealed that Shaki sent a naked picture of him with Kush's knowledge and Kush didn't think it was that big of a deal. A fight ensues between Carmel and Stacey as Carmel insults Stacey's parenting and says that because of Stacey's bipolar, she can't be a good mum. Stacey bans Carmel from seeing Arthur, but her mind is changed after speaking to Max Branning.

Kush has a heart attack and is diagnosed with Brugada syndrome. It is genetic, and it may have been passed to Arthur. He tells Stacey that Arthur could die. Stacey worries and eventually takes it out on Lily after she refuses to eat her dinner. She scares Lily, and when she tries to apologise, she is stopped by Carmel from seeing Lily or Arthur. They begin to fight when Martin comes back from prison (after punching a police officer) and stops them.

Kush, Arthur, Stacey and Martin attend a doctors appointment to see if Arthur is ill. After an ECG, it is revealed that Arthur is a high risk, but they can't do proper tests because Arthur is too young. When they return home, Arthur collapses and can't be woken up. It is revealed that he overdosed on Stacey's pills after taking some when she wasn't looking. Carmel insults Stacey's parenting and decides to keep an eye on her. After a chat with Carmel, Stacey reveals that she hasn't been sleeping because she's worried Arthur might die in his sleep. Carmel decides to back-off until she finds bruises on Arthur's arms. She questions Lily who tells her Stacey hit Arthur. Carmel calls social services but later regrets it. When she asks Lily again, she runs away, and Carmel rings social services to say she made a mistake. She is told it's too late and there is an investigation underway.

At a meal at Stacey's house, social services take Arthur and Lily away from Stacey and Martin and given them to Carmel. She allows Stacey to see the kids and feels guilty for taking them away from her. When Stacey gets the kids back, Lily reveals it was her who hurt Arthur. Martin and Stacey inform social services who speak to Lily and find out that Lily was upset because everyone was fussing over Arthur and she was being forgotten. Kush reveals to everyone that Carmel called social services. She denies it but admits it after being interrogated by Stacey. Stacey then collapses and is rushed to the hospital. She delivers her baby prematurely due to her having seizures caused by eclampsia. Carmel tries to make it up to Stacey by helping out around the house, but Stacey is still angry at her for trying to take her kids away and triggering her seizure which led to her baby - Hope Fowler - being born prematurely.

In 2018, Lily and her siblings are in the middle of an argument between Stacey and Martin as Stacey cheated on Martin with Max. Lily, along with Arthur and Hope, are taken to Brighton to go and see their grandmother Jean by Stacey because of her guilt for being unfaithful. She returns after two weeks after Martin tells her he wants custody of Lily and her siblings. Stacey returns to the house and Lily runs past Bex into Martin's arm's, and he gives Lily a big hug and Martin tells Bex to take Lily upstairs to play with Arthur and Hope - which she does. Stacey then implies that Martin shouldn't have access to Lily or Arthur as he is not their dad, and Martin replies "I gave you everything". An angry Martin chucks Stacey out of the house and refuses her access to see her children and barricaded himself inside the house with Hope, Arthur, Lily, Bex, Whitney and Tiffany inside; he tells Bex, Whitney and Tiffany that Stacey isn't allowed in the home or anywhere near the kids. The next day, Bex then offers to take Lily to school, but Martin will enable Lily to stay off and tells Bex that he isn't taking any chances of Stacey being any were near her. That same day, Stacey complains because she isn't able to feed Hope, and she wants to see Lily and Arthur, complained on the phone to her cousin Kat. Stacey decides to sit on the bench outside the house and won't move until she sees her children. After another day, Bex goes outside to confront Stacey, explaining that she isn't needed as they've got it all under control, but Stacey argues that her children need their mum. However, whilst this is happening, Lily goes upstairs to try to comfort a crying Hope. She realises that she is hungry and hears her mother outside of the open window talking to Bex. Lily, holding Hope, leans out of the window and calls to Stacey saying "Hope's hungry, she wants you mummy". Stacey and Bex run to underneath the window after banging on the door for Martin. Lily tells Stacey, not understanding that Martin has locked her out, that Hope is hungry and that she wants her. Martin hears a commotion coming from the front door where a group of people (including Kush and Robbie Jackson) are stood under the window waiting to catch Lily and Hope if they fall. Martin runs upstairs and tells Lily that they are going to see downstairs to see mummy. Martin carries Hope downstairs to see Stacey. Stacey then runs to Lily and hugs her and grabs Hope from Martin. She is glad her daughters are safe but is mad at Martin from getting distracted. Stacey then phones Ryan who plans to help Stacey by sending someone out a locksmith to change the locks on her doors. When Martin goes to work, he leaves Whitney and Tiffany to look after the kids. However, Whitney allows Stacey to come in just as Martin's daughter Bex realises what Stacey is doing and shouts of her Dad, Stacey then locks all the doors in the house as the locks have been changed and tell an angry and devastated Martin that he isn't allowed to see the kids.

Stacey is seen by Michelle Fowler, putting Hope and Arthur in a taxi. Michelle runs to Martin to tell him she is taking the kids. He stops the taxi by jumping in front of it, Stacey gets out of the car and Martin forbids her from taking the kids anywhere. Stacey explains that they are going to pick Lily up from school and then go back to Brighton to see Jean Walters for the weekend. He again tells her no and that she can't make decisions like that without his consent. The Ahmeds get involved after hearing Stacey and Martin argue; Arshad then tells Martin, after being told to back off, that he won't. He accuses Stacey and Martin of abusing their children, Martin apologises, and Stacey goes to pick Lily up from school. All of this is filmed by Stacey's cousin Hayley Slater. Hayley decides to flirt with Martin. When asked by Stacey, who she is, she explains that she is her cousin and that Kat sent her. Martin decides that he has had enough of Stacey and sends an email to a solicitor to get custody of Hope and Arthur, however, he changes his mind and (when round Stacey's house) hacks into her email and tries to delete an email from his solicitor. Stacey catches him, and after he explains himself, she calls a solicitor when he leaves.

Martin spends time with Hayley, and she encourages him to take Hope and Arthur longer than it was agreed with Stacey. Hayley invites Martin, Arthur and Hope to her home and makes them a dinner of nuggets, chips and jelly. She explains that she feeds this to her son, Tyler, all the time, and it's okay. She starts a jelly fight with Martin. Stacey rings Martin, but he ignores her calls, so, she rings the police, and they arrive on Hayley's doorstep looking for Martin, Hope and Arthur. Stacey admits to Hayley later that she felt guilty at calling the police because of the look on Arthur's face after it happened, but Hayley reminds her that she shouldn't go soft - Slaters stick together. Stacey's nan Mo then comes down after changing Hope and says you can tell she's a Slater because of how much and how quickly she's filled her nappy. Stacey decides to let Martin see the kids after seeing how much they mean to him. Martin is invited back into the house to talk about arrangements for the kids with Stacey. He accuses her of using him to look after the kids when she wants to go out - he still believes that she is sleeping with Max. She says she isn't and explains he can have them tonight or not at all. He leaves. Stacey goes to Dot Branning's house where Martin is staying to leave the kids there as she has an appointment to get to, he says no and that he has plans.

In March 2018, Lily answered the door to an emotional Mo Harris who has arrived back in the square to see Stacey and informed her that Kat, Stacey's cousin, has died but this was just a scam as she was in a lot of debt and therefore needed five grand. However, Stacey was not aware that Mo was lying. Lily then notices that Stacey is upset and in her way to school, informed Martin, who becomes extremely worried about Stacey. Lily then finds a magazine full of pictures of coffins just as Stacey walks in the room and takes it off her. Stacey then breaks the news to Lily that Kat is dead and Lily becomes upset. A couple of days later, Lily answers the door to her grandmother Jean who tells Stacey and Mo that she just spoke to Kat on the phone and she isn't dead. Stacey then tells Jean that she couldn't talk or speak to Kat because she is dead. Jay Brown then donates a coffin to Stacey and Lily puts her doll inside thinking it's a bed. Jean then explains to Lily that Kat will be buried in the ground and the coffin will be tightly closed, which makes Lily scared. During the Queen Vic trying to raise money for Kat's funeral, which is hosted by Mick and Linda Carter she arrives in the square and turns up at Stacey's door just as Jean is putting Lily and Arthur to bed. Mo then explains that she lied about Kat's death for money and the Slaters become angry. Kat then turns up at the Vic with Mo explaining what has happened and she then fakes a heart attack, which doesn't go to plan when people know she's faking. They then walk out of the Vic (now with everyone fighting) and return home to Jean who is babysitting Lily and her siblings. After that, the Slaters become the most hated family on the square, but the hatred soon turns to Max when he returns to the square with his new wife Rainie and his granddaughter Abi. When Kat needs her washing done but has no money, she goes to see Martin and asks to use his washer to wash the kids' clothes and takes Lily along with her and tells Lily to act cute. Lily puts on a pet lip for Martin, and he agrees to let them use his washer. He then pulls out one of Kat's tops, and she tells him that it's Arthur's and he uses it for painting. Lily and Martin look at each other and laugh, especially when Martin pulls out a bra and says to Kat "I suppose this is Arthur's an all". Lily laughs, and Kat tells Lily there going home, but Martin tells Kat that Lily can stay with him for the day which she does. After realising they are both still in love with each other, Martin and Stacey give their relationship another go, and Martin moves back into the house.

Martin goes to see Stacey inform her that "Magic Marv" - a children's TV presenter who Arthur likes is in town to do a show. Stacey tells him that Arthur doesn't like Magic Marv anymore but agrees to go anyway. When they get there, Marv teases Martin. It intensifies when Kush walks in and introduces himself as Arthur's dad. When Martin asks why Kush is here, Stacey tells him it's because Kush is Arthur's dad so they should spend time together, upsetting Martin. During an interval, Martin picks a fight with Marv in the pub but is stopped by Stacey. Stacey and Martin get into an argument, and she tells him they aren't together anymore because she finds him boring. She then tells him that he can either behave or go home; he chooses to stay because the show isn't over yet, and he wants to spend time with Arthur. When they get back, Vincent, Martin and Kush are invited on stage for a singing competition. Kush goes first and does very well, earning a clap from the audience after the refers to himself as "Special K" and sings about playing the guitar. When it's Martin's go, Marv tells him to show Stacey who the no. 1 daddy is. However, Martin stutters and is disqualified. Martin argues with Marv and tells him he wants another go because the music was out of time. Marv means Martin to sit down and refers to him as "Pop Idol" causing Martin to kick-off, flick Marv's hat off into the audience, tells Marv to shut up and puts his foot into a drum. He leaves and says to Stacey "how was that for boring?"

Since the Slater Family house is a bit overcrowded, Martin gets annoyed with everyone. He then gets ready to go in the shower but realizes Tiffany is in. When Martin asks her is she is done, she replies "in washing my hair". Martin then comes downstairs, and Tiffany comes out the shower, just as Mo runs up the stairs to use the bathroom. When the toilet is finally free, Martin goes in the shower but is disturbed when Jean walks in. She then runs downstairs, and Martin goes after her. Jean runs into the kitchen where everyone is, and Martin explains what has just happened. Tiffany laughs, as does everyone but Jean says "To be fair Martin, I didn't see much". Everyone laughs again, and Kat replies "Poor Stacey". Martin goes to turn away, and Kat pulls down his towel, which is covering his body. Everyone screams and Tiffany covers her eyes, but Stacey grabs the cloth and puts it over Tiffany's eyes. Martin goes upstairs to resume his shower and get ready. When he comes downstairs into the kitchen, he spots Lily on Tiffany's iPad and tells her she should play outside and get some air in her lungs because she looks pasty. A few minutes later, Lily comes downstairs tanned as Tiffany covered her in fake tan because Martin said she looked pale. Martin then promises to take Lily to the pictures after he has been to work but later gets robbed. Lily overhears Martin talking to the rest of the family about it and decides to make her movie.

Jean then begins to take Hope, Lily and Arthur to church, hoping to convince Lily to get christened. However once Jean confronts Stacey about this, Stacey disagrees. Jean then decides to see Martin and Kush see how they would feel about having the children christened. She asks Kush if he would like to see Arthur christened, but Kush replies saying that he is a Muslim. Jean then asks Martin, but he says that he isn't religious and doesn't know how Stacey would feel about having Hope christened. Jean then mentions it to Stacey about having Lily christened, and when Stacey asks Lily about this, she says she doesn't want to have one. Martin then begins to see how much a christening would mean to Jean after Jean confides in him that it would be the perfect idea for a big family gathering. Martin agrees as long as Jean manages to talk Stacey round. However Stacey tells her that she has three kids and she isn't treating one different from the rest butt Jean talks her round, and eventually, Stacey agrees. Jean shows Stacey the dress she wore for her christening, and she smiles. On the day of Hope's christening, Martin is drunk after a lads night out for his birthday with Kush and Robbie. The start of the day turns out to be a disaster when nobody can find Hope's christening dress. Stacey picks Kat as hopes godmother, and Martin picks Robbie as her godfather. Kat then goes to the wall and tries to phone her husband Alfie so she can talk to her kids. Hayley then discovers that Hope's christening dress is inside the towel on her head and takes it to the church. With Kat being missing, Stacey needs to decide on a godmother for Hope and suggests Mo, but Martin says her doesn't want Mo to be a godmother to his daughter and everybody laughs. Tiffany then says she will do it, but Bex says she is too young. The vicar then says that these decisions can not be rushed just as Hayley walks in the room. Hayley is then forced to get Hope changed into her christening dress, and Jean talks her round into becoming Hope's godmother. Hope is about to be christened when Kat walks in the room. Hayley then hands over Hope to Kat and walks off. Jean then goes after her and Hayley confides in her that she is pregnant.
