Summary[]
As things take a dangerous turn between Jase and Terry, a terrified Billy is forced into a moral dilemma. Shirley forces Dawn to hear some unpleasant home truths at her hen party.
Jase is horrified to find Terry and his heavies holding Jay hostage. He asks if it's because he's been nicking Terry's money. Terry reveals that this vendetta goes back to the old days and that he's going to savour this revenge. Terry claims that Jase was like a son to him. He grabs Jay and gloats that Jase is going to find out how it feels to lose a son. Jase pushes Jay at Billy and orders him to get him out of there. Then he squares up to fight Terry's gang. Billy locks Jay in the van and returns to find Jase lying on the floor, defeated. Jase entreats Billy to save him, but he locks himself in the bathroom and covers his ears. Meanwhile, Jay phones Honey and begs her to send help. Jase drops out of consciousness and imagines himself and Jay in happier times. He reaches out. Terry orders his droogs to finish him off, but the police arrive and arrest everyone, including Billy, who protests his innocence. At Shirley's, Dawn demands to know why people hate her. Shirley accuses her of being stuck up. Dawn confides in Shirley about her impoverished childhood. She refuses to apologise for wanting to get on in the world. In the hospital, Billy comforts Jay by lying that he defended Jase. Jay reveals that his dad is all he has in the world and that he's terrified of losing him and going into care - a fate that Billy knows only too well. Shirley's disgusted to hear how Jase makes his cash. Dawn realises that she's endangered his safety for some useless possessions. She removes her jewellery and announces that she doesn't need it. All she needs is Jase. In theatre, Jase goes into cardiac arrest. His last thoughts are of Jay before he passes away, his hand outstretched for his son. When the doctor leads Jay in, he takes his dad's hand and cries. Billy looks on, consumed with guilt. |
