Summary[]

Carol isn't looking forward to April's hen night. David attempts to keep all the women in his life happy, and fails. Ian has big plans for his family's future.

Cindy sees David getting into his car and explains to him that she hasn't told Ian yet because he was out late but she is sorry for what she said out of anger. David drives away. Cindy then see's Ian looking at the burnt out house on the square and expresses her reluctance to move. She later see's Ian standing outside the vacant building that was once "The Meal Machine", he tells her that he is planning to rent it and he has a meeting with the owner.

Peggy snubs Phil in the square and refuses to acknowledge him when Grant tries to defend him. Phil tells Kathy and she apologises to him for putting him in a difficult position. Grant fights Phil's corner and tells Peggy that Phil wanted to tell her but couldn't because of his loyalty to his wife. Peggy offers to be in charge of the party and Phil agrees.

Joe goes to the café while Pat and Lorraine talk outside. Lorraine wants to talk to David to set some ground rules in regards to his decision to be a father to Joe. They part ways and Lorraine has breakfast in the café with Joe. A curious Carol strikes up a conversation with her but they are interrupted by Joe dropping a plate. Carol offers to clean his shirt.

Ricky gives Pat a letter from Frank which she opens, she is shocked to read that he has agreed to divorce her. She goes to see Kathy and tells her that she wants to put the past behind her and build a future with Roy but she knows that she will always be tied to Frank somehow.

Just as Sarah is about to shoplift a bracelet from one of the market stalls when Tiffany interrupts her. She invites her to go clubbing up West with her. Sarah says her dad won't allow it, so Tiffany tells her not to tell him. They go to the Vic and get dressed up but just as they are about to leave, Ted arrives and sends Sarah home. He tells Tiffany she's made Sarah look cheap, just like her.

Ruth returns from Scotland and has tea with Pauline, who is still unsure whether or not to go on holiday with Willy.

Nigel considers going for a position as a school governor, but he worries about what the other's will think when they find out he is just a pot man. David puts him off the idea of starting his own business as it is too stressful.

In the laundrette, Carol and Lorraine talk about their children and realise that have things in common; their poor taste in men. Lorraine explains that Joe came to Walford looking for someone and Carol assumes that he was looking for his father. Neither of them realise that they both of them have children by the same man. David finds Lorraine outside and takes her to car lot, she is apprehensive about him being in Joe's life now but he is adamant that he wants to get to know him again.

When Joe and Lorraine leave, Pat confronts David in regards to why he never told her that Karen had died. He tries to worm his way out of it but Pat berates him for being careless. He storms out and finds Carol sitting on the bench in the gardens. They begin to argue about David being irresponsible when she makes him aware that she knows Joe is his son and Lorraine is his ex-wife. She tells him to tell Bianca, who arrives at that moment. Carol and Bianca leave to go to April's hen do but not before Carol turns back and tells him he needs to sort the situation.
