Hi all recently on Discord I proposed an idea to some of the editors and it has had a good reception, @J.a.c.o.b46 and @Robbief006 have already agreed with this idea.

Here was the following idea

"Hi all as some of you may remember I was in conversations with many of our readers online and some constructive feedback I was given is that our infoboxes can be too long and difficult to read.

And in a bid to help this we made changes to the nicknames/other names which has been complete for some time now.

I feel now we are ready to move onto the next process which is the relationships/know relatives section and the simple solution is to only have mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters and any marriages/relationships.

All the other relatives obviously need a new home and my suggestion previously was to put them at the bottom of the page. Not many of the admin team were keen on this at the time so the idea was suspended. I have a new suggestion that we add a link in the infobox to the family tree pages which contains the necessary information. If any of you have any other ideas on where to put all the other relatives outside of the ones I mentioned that can stay then I'm open to hearing it.

Hi all

I have recently been speaking to readers to get their feedback on the wiki and something that came up from almost all of them (and I agree with this) is our infoboxes are way too long and cluttered, i've recently been looking at the information in our infobox, what information is important and needs to stay. What can be removed or moved somewhere else and with the input of the editors over at discord I've created this new format along with @Walford, E20 .

If approved me and Walford E20 will work on it and it will become our number 1 priority and of course we'll be open to any help. If this proposal is accepted it will help shorten the infoboxes and make them much tidier and easier for our readers to read.

So here's a small break down

Other names Nicknames are moved into their own page, the only Nicknames and other names that will remain in the infobox is names that have been used by more than one character and a name that has been used more than 3 times by an individual character.

Only family members that will remain in the infobox is mother's and father's, sons and daughters and brother and sisters the rest are pu into a section just after the biography where the readers have the option to see a digital family tree or read the family tree.

Walford E20 and @Zachlikesninjago have already agreed to the project.

Hi guys hope everyone is well, just thought I'd get all your input on a new idea I've created for a section on character pages, it's called fight counts and will feature subheadings that include punches, slaps and elbows.

The purpose of this section is just like kill counts EastEnders are very well know for having alot of fights and as a wiki it would be responsible of us to give our readers all the knowledge we can on this side of the show, it will be a great section once it gets going. It is set up similarly to the kill count but their are slight differences, I have created a sample of this section on Phil Mitchell's page since he has been in the most fight so it felt appropriate to get the hardest one done first, below are some pictures of the new section. As a wiki it's important we keep expanding year on year and this is one of many plans I have to help take this wiki to the next level this year and be the best it can be.

Having spoken personally with @Kelvin 101 and @Walford, E20 they are both on board for this new section but I just want to check everyone else is happy before I proceed with doing more of these.

Hello everyone recently me and the admin team along with editors on Discord have recently been voting on whether or not to make the site completely spoiler free and an overwhelming amount were in support of making the wiki becoming spoiler free so from today this wiki will allow NO SPOILERS.

Prior to today we were not allowing spoilers from early IPlayer releases (this was agreed some time ago) this change will mostly put an end to announcements of exits, breaks and returns etc.

Some pages won't be affected by this change and will continue to have spoilers, however we will be adding a note at the top of the pages to announce that the page contains spoilers

The pages that we've agreed can continue as normal are just below, any pages that are not on this list will not be allowed to have spoilers added.

And whilst I'm making this announcement alot of our editors are currently adding spoilers from the early IPlayer releases despite me and the admins making it clear time and time again not to add spoilers (I'm not naming names but those of you who do it know who you are). Me and the admins have put in every effort to make sure users know not to do this including adding a note in the bottom corner that all editors can see.

So let me be clear we are clamping down on removing spoilers now, if we see users adding spoilers they will receive a warning either from me personally or another admin but if this warning is ignored blocks unfortunately will be handed out, no exceptions.

Hi all

Me and the admins have recently had a meeting and have decided to make some small alterations to improve the wiki.

These are not drastic changes by any means.

1. From now on if a character has more than 30 appearances regardless of their classification they are to have their own list of appearances pages, further more if they have less than 30 appearances simply add them to the characters page.

2. From now on capital letters are not to be used in heading apart from at the start and if a name is mentioned in the heading.

A few examples

Kill Count will now be Kill Count

List of Appearances will now be List of appearances

If a subheading for example says

2010-2011: Relationship With Shirley and Exit

It should instead be

2010-2011: Relationship with Shirley and exit

Hi everyone I've recently been asking around to see if users on here would interested in joining a discord server for the EastEnders Wiki and i have got a very positive reception to the idea.

So I'll go into why us having a discord server would be beneficial to the wiki. @Kelvin 101 and @Zachlikesninjago are already on board with the idea.

1. Another community where even more users can talk and even people who don't edit on here can talk about all things EastEnders.

2. Discord's are reliable forms of communication used by loads of wiki's including the Hollyoaks Wiki and The Conjuring Universe Wiki.

3. It will be a good source material as like I said not everyone will be editors on here but we may well end up getting some very knowledgeable fans who may be able to tell us thing's that have happened in EastEnders that we may not have heard about.

4. We would also have a private admin group where we can talk about matters to improve this Wiki that should be kept private between Moderators and Admins only as when we're talking on here the whole world can see what were talking about.

5. If for any reason your message wall isn't working you can still contact eachother through the discord, it was recently brought to my attention that Zachlikesninjago's message wall wasn't working for a period of time.

Please note this discord server is no way shape or form going to replace this community it will simply be an extension and a more private place for editors to talk who perhaps don't want the whole of the Wiki to see their messages on this community.

Also if any of you guys support the idea but don't wish to join the discord server then no hard feelings as some might be happy communicating on here.

I have already created the community so as long as you are all on board I will reach out to KylaraE our Wiki representative and ask if she can add the discord to the wiki so you can all join.

I have also created our admin/Moderator group but for obvious reasons it's admin and moderators only so if you are interested in joining that group message me your email and I'll email a private link.

Tony offers Robbie some of the fish. He turns down the offer in disgust. He leaves.

Gita and Guppy continue to argue about the beating. She says she can't trust him as he has lied to her too many times before.

Hi all, I've come up with an idea that could help improve character profiles, I seen this on another wiki and it works quite well, basically alot of character profiles have multiple jobs/addresses in them which makes the info box a bit clustered, it's also worth talking into account that according to the character layout rules the info box is only supposed to have the characters current job/address, I was thinking we could keep their current job/address in their info box and then add a table or something towards the bottom end of the page and put all past jobs/addresses in their, this would intern help the info box stay tidy and shorter and expand the articles, it would only need to be done for long term characters like Phil, Ian and Kat for example, the reason I would do this instead of adding another section to the info box is because with the table we can be more informative and the info boxes are already big enough. I understand this would be a big change so I wont start anything until I get approval, please share your thoughts and here are some pictures of how my ideas would look like.

Hi all,

I think we need to decide which way character durations should be formatted - I know some on the Wiki have recently been changing some characters' durations to be displayed as, for example, "2020-22" instead of "2020-2022".

In my opinion, the standard should remain as "2020-2022" - the vast majority of durations on the Wiki are already formatted this way and if the other format is used it then creates inconsistencies as some durations will still need to remain with full years displayed as they straddle two centuries, eg "1996-2002".

Episodes 1696 (17 November 1998) and Episode 1697 (19 November 1998) are written by Lisselle Kayla - however the pages had the pseudonym writer Julia Honour down but I am unable to change them when editing the infobox. Could anyone work a way around this? Thanks :)

Hi all hope you are all doing well @J.a.c.o.b46 and @Clarkybob97 have suggested that we reformat the Character Appearances to shorten them to just the broadcast date to make it look neater.

I would agree that this would make it look neater but will likely take a lot of work to complete. I will try and find a way for the bot do this but failing this J.a.c.o.b46 has very kindly offered to take this on as a project after the Episode pages are compete.

As I am going through the episodes to check the credits and character appearances, I have come across a few occurrences where characters do not appear but their voice is heard (so I have included them on the cast list with a note to say 'voice-only' and uncredited). I wasn't too sure if it really counts seeing as its not an actual 'appearance' (for example, Clare Tyler is heard at the end of Episode 1014 - 16 August 1994 - but is uncredited as she is not actually seen).

What are other people's opinions on this?

I am wondering if there is anywhere a list of which character appeared in which episode? I know it is on each episodes page but I am wanting it as one big list.

What are people's preferences when it comes to the 'Summary' section on the episode pages? Personally, I prefer them shorter (as that's what a summary is supposed to be).

As I am going through each episode and editing the credits, I have been trying to cut down some of the long summaries. A lot of them are very detailed of each scene in an episode - but really people can watch the episode to find this out rather than read about it (also it avoids spoilers if people haven't seen the episode before)!

If the majority are in favour of having shorter summaries (e.g. a paragraph with 3-5 plot sentences), could I start going back and cutting the long ones down?

Hi guys, i know that tonights episode is cancelled because of Prince Phillip's death but does anyone know if it's being rescheduled for monday and there be a double episode on monday or is it being completely cancelled and there only be one episode on monday?

It isn't being shown on Monday's schedule or on the official BBC EastEnders website so i think that tonights episode is just going to be forgotten and not aired ever.

What do you guys think?
