I have recently been looking into the character biographies and have noticed something that could come across as slightly confusing to readers. There is a rule which states that each section of the biography should be split across 5 years, then start a new one and so on… however, when a character has numerous stints within a 5 year period, it can make it look a bit inconsistent and confusing,

Cindy Beale is an example for this. Her stints are 1988-1990, 1992-1998, 2023-. Whereas her biography was split into 1988-1993, 1994-1998, 2023-.

Please take a look at the recent edit I made to the headings. I feel that it would make more sense if we stuck to the 5 year rule, but only within one stint. So therefore, each stint would require a new section. Usually a new stint means a whole new storyline for the character, and would work well with being split up from their past stint to avoid confusion. Breaks would be excluded from this.

For Cindy, I have suggested 1988-1990, 1992-1997, 1998, 2023-. There are other character biographies which would benefit from this change.

I hope you can understand where I am coming from, and that it may avoid confusion amongst readers. I understand the 5 year rule was only put into place recently, but I think this adjustment would be really beneficial for the project.

I saw on Wikipedia that they have templates at the top of articles. I’m considering creating a template on our wiki. I’m currently going through every articles biography and seeing if they need fixing. I have a team of 4 at the minute working on it, and I don’t need any more currently. But anyway, I think we should create a few that says different things.

‘This article’s biography needs improvement’ ‘This article has been written well and has been reviewed by as admin’

And a few other ones for any article, not just considering biographies but everything

‘This article is considered basic quality. Feel free to edit it.’

‘This article is considered good quality. Feel free to edit it.’

‘This article is considered outstanding quality. Feel free to edit it.’

If this does go through, can I ask that only I review the articles as I want it to be reviewed consistently as I do the biography project. I do feel nasty making it a me-only project but I hope my reasons make sense for that.

Hi all, what do you guys think about adding an affairs section to the info box, this has recently been discussed on Discord and has recieved a popular reception from editors. @J.a.c.o.b46 and @Walford, E20 have already voted and it's one vote each in favour of it and not.

The cons of having this new section is it could cause future debates on whether other types of romance such as one-nights-stands should have their own section thus would cause more sections, making the info box longer and make it more difficult on where we draw the line.

The positive is that it would clear up confusing and debatable romances for example due to the current format Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall has (prior to 2025; affair) even though they're are not an affair anymore so it can be misleading, affair can't currently be removed from they're pages however as it would imply that they split up which of course they didn't. One other positive is it would make the romance section significantly shorter and easier to read.

Please share your thoughts.

I am planning to create more gallery pages as they are useful and are all in one page. I've started by creating one for Reiss Colwell. Is there a rule for who gets these pages, I thought I'd ask as I've realised certain characters have them and others don't.

I was wondering if we could add a feature to the current episode pages where i do recaps for the episodes like shown:

I will focus on episodes that air in the future (e.g, if this does a get approved right I will do from the 13th of February ep). And then go back and add Jan-Beginning of feb 2023. I dont have time to go all the way back and will focus on the recent episodes but it is just a suggestion. Some synopsis may not be uploaded on the day but will be up by the weekend.

It’ll also be in text format not the picture format that is just an example

Hi all, hope you’re doing well! I just wanted to propose the idea of adding the pets to the list of current/past characters and the year pages. The only drawback I can see to this is that it could potentially clutter up the pages, but they are still characters in the same way the likes of Ze the extra is. I’ve attached how they could look on the pages

I’m writing this to propose an idea I had the other day to improve the wiki. Like appearance counts, galleries can take up a lot of room on character pages, just look at Sharon Watts, Amy Mitchell, and Ollie Carter for examples. I have tried to organise these, such as Dana Monroe’s gallery, however I think that having a gallery page in the See also area would be easier, as it would save scrolling through and extensive gallery to find the categories. Obviously, not all characters have enough photos to have a gallery page, such as Bob Lister, so for characters like him we could keep their gallery to their main page like we do with guest characters appearances like Sid Bello. This task would be quite time consuming to do, but it would allow us to upload more promotional photos of characters like Sharon as they would be Categorised easier and we can also have passports and driving licenses separate from letters which they currently aren’t, and I am willing to do as many as possible. I have attached a photo of a potential layout below, the only drawback I can see to this is the time it would take to complete and that some main characters like Howie Danes have not had Promos releases yet. Hi all, hope you’re all well

The other day I was rewatching a clip from 3rd February 2022 on youtube as I was discussing ballum on twitter and noticed that Jo and Winston are in the doof doof

I didn’t want to add them to it yet as I wanted to run it past a few of you first, should we count extras in the doof doofs? I can see arguments against it as they’re not the main focus of the doof doof, however in some cases one character has been the focus while others are in the background and got counted (such as Bobby, Sonia and Callum in 3rd February 2022)

I understand it would be quite tiring to go back to all the old episodes and add the extras to those doof doofs if we agree to add them, which is why I suggest only doing 2001 to present? I’ve recently started watching the classics on drama channel so would be able to count them, and 2008-10 is on iplayer, as are the last year of episodes, so assuming drama will air 2002-7 and what’s missing from 08 on iplayer, we have access to most of the 2000’s and 2010’s, and I’m sure there is a website that features the rest of them

I'm aware I’ve suggested a lot recently, so I’m sorry if it’s getting annoying, I just want the wiki to be the best it can be and don’t want to do drastic changes without consulting you guys, so I hope you’re ok with it :)

Hi all, hope you’re all doing well. I intended to post this earlier however I got caught up with things so I apologise for the delay

I wanted to talk about categories for actors pages, specifically for those who appeared on reality tv shows

Lots of actors have appeared on strictly, I’m a celeb, bake off etc. I think we should add categories to those who have, as it would list them all in one places for people looking to see who’s appeared in which show when they visit the site, or a page listing the stars and what reality shows they’ve been in

I added the category Strictly Contestants to some actors earlier for an example of what I mean, and for an example of a list of them, any list already on the wiki will do.

I understand this may be slightly pointless, however i tend to take organising pages very seriously for some reason lol, so I thought I’d suggest it before I go and add these

Hi all, hope you’re all doing well!

I recently had an idea for the character info boxes that would de-clutter them.

If we added a separate section for nicknames to keep them separate from other names, for example, Bobby Beale’s page has both his nicknames and other names in the same tab, which is a bit messy. Another benefit of this is that characters who have been married a lot of times (like Sharon Watts) would be a belt of have all their previous marriage names separate from her nicknames to help with organisation.

Whilst on the subject of the info box, I suggest we remove the D.O.B, Died, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, IMBD, Owner and Breed sections from it, as Boy/girlfriends go in romances, and we already have sections for date of birth and death. Additionally, the breed and owner section could be moved to a separate info box for pets, and the IMBD to a separate info box for actors.

Hi everyone, I have added a recurring characters table on the 2022 page. I thought it would make more sense than them being in the main characters table as although they may be seen in the background they don't really have speaking roles so would be unfair to rank them in the same table as the actual main characters. I was thinking of adding this to every year. What do you all think?

I was checking the list of current characters for spelling mistakes so an admin could fix any I saw, but I noticed that despite both Alyssa and Jada being marked as in break, they’re not in the returning characters section. Is this a mistake or intentional choice? Just thought I’d let the admins know

Someone please update Ben Mitchell & Bobby Beale’s images for their character pages? Use the new promos of Max Bowden & Clay Milner Russell as Ben and Bobby. I’m getting sick of seeing the previous actors.

There is an error in the “unseen characters” section which states that Mr Popodopolos (senior) was never seen on screen. He was in 1990 in an episode where Marge was trying to save Dot’s job at the Laundrette.

If you have access to UKPlay, it’s in episode 87 of series 6.
