Hi all, hope you’re all well

The other day I was rewatching a clip from 3rd February 2022 on youtube as I was discussing ballum on twitter and noticed that Jo and Winston are in the doof doof

I didn’t want to add them to it yet as I wanted to run it past a few of you first, should we count extras in the doof doofs? I can see arguments against it as they’re not the main focus of the doof doof, however in some cases one character has been the focus while others are in the background and got counted (such as Bobby, Sonia and Callum in 3rd February 2022)

I understand it would be quite tiring to go back to all the old episodes and add the extras to those doof doofs if we agree to add them, which is why I suggest only doing 2001 to present? I’ve recently started watching the classics on drama channel so would be able to count them, and 2008-10 is on iplayer, as are the last year of episodes, so assuming drama will air 2002-7 and what’s missing from 08 on iplayer, we have access to most of the 2000’s and 2010’s, and I’m sure there is a website that features the rest of them

I'm aware I’ve suggested a lot recently, so I’m sorry if it’s getting annoying, I just want the wiki to be the best it can be and don’t want to do drastic changes without consulting you guys, so I hope you’re ok with it :)

3 February 2022 - I would say it's more focused on Ben (Background includes Winston, Jo, Callum, Bobby and Sonia)

I think Ben would get the Doof Doof.

14 July 2022 - Peter is out of frame at end Winston, Rocky, Kathy and Bobby are visible.

I think only Kathy and Bobby would get the Doof Doof.

What would everyone else think?

Although on Walford Web they count everyone except extras.

@Clarkybob97 Yeah right it can become subjective, if it's not a straightforward Doof Doof but we can only do are best until we know EE's formula. I am wondering if we could look at The Greatest Cliffhangers (2010) and see if what EE production reports the Doof Doof figures to be vs what we have to and try to figure out their criteria up to Episode 3917-3918 (25 December 2009).

14 July I’d argue all 4 l, it’s meant to show that peter has not only left his family but also everyone in the square, same with 3 February, I interpreted it as showing that while everyone else is happy Ben is not (if that makes sense)

I'd say just bobby, kathy and rocky not peter. he wasn't even properly in frame

This is definitely a tricky topic, especially as the official EE social media has counted peter as the doof doof for that episode like how they did with Dana when she was attacked. Sometimes I think the bbc don’t know what to count as the doof doof themselves

I think it's best to continue with the current way until we figure this out I will reach out to some of the writers and other people to see if they can shed some light on this topic.

That's a great idea. I wouldn't mention our site though as I know some previous BBC fan site such as Grange Hill was taken down by the BBC, hopefully as this is a fandom site they wouldn't mind as much but best to be cautious, just in case. I would be very interest to see her response. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
