It seems that Phil Mitchell's hiatus from 2003 is already recognised in his duration not only on the EastEnders Wiki, but also on Wikipedia and Walford Web so I would therefore say that as it seems to be widely accepted that Steve left the show during this period that it should remain the case that this is reflected in his duration.

I've been going through the 2018 episodes and nearly finished just all the other years left to do haha

The Bot could possibly fix this, but unfortunately it not as simple as telling it to just switch the names around before and after the dash in the credit section. Probably better to do a test run on a few pages from the same year, you would have to build a list of all the actor names and character names for that year, then tell the bot to search for those actor names with the episode pages and replace them with the character names. It's not impossible but it would take some thinking. I did previous think about this but it's messy to fix if it goes wrong.

Doesn't sound like the bot would really make it that much quicker than going through it manually. In all honesty, it may not even be worth changing to the new format. It's not as if the old format is unclear in any way, and it seems like a lot of effort for something which at the end of the day isn't going to affect a whole lot.

Back on the subject of the thread however, it appears that everyone who has commented so far is largely in agreement that we should stick with not including breaks in durations - would it be okay for me to go and change durations back to be consistent with that?

Yeah you can change the duration breaks, also if you could do a brief write up about the duration breaks layout on the character layout page, so users know the format we will be using.

I will look further into the fixing the credits, I believe EE Archive creates the credits from the on screen credits (correct me if my wrong) as the credits on the Official BBC EastEnders site/Internet Movie Database are not always accurate.
